LFI a/s
LFI a/s, the Lundbeck Foundation's investment and holding company, was established in 1999 with the main objective of ensuring a clearer separation of the Lundbeck Foundation's grant-making activities and business activities. The grant-making activities take place in the Foundation, while business activities primarily take place in LFI a/s.
In August 2000, the Foundation's shares in H. Lundbeck A/S and Chr. Hansen Holding A/S (now ALK-Abelló A/S) were transferred to LFI a/s. As of 30 April 2009, LFI a/s held 70% of the capital and voting rights in H. Lundbeck A/S, and 38% of the capital and 66% of the voting rights in ALK-Abelló A/S.
Both companies are listed on NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen. H. Lundbeck A/S is included in the OMXC20 index, while ALK-Abelló A/S is included in the OMXCPI index.
In January 2009 LFI a/s took over H. Lundbeck A/S' 28 pct. equity of the listed biotech company LifeCycle Pharma A/S.
The Lundbeck Foundation holds 100% of the shares in LFI a/s.
In addition to its investments in H. Lundbeck A/S, ALK-Abelló A/S and LifeCycle Pharma A/S LFI a/s also has portfolio investments which are managed by LFI a/s' investment department in collaboration with external portfolio managers. LFI a/s' Managing Director is Lundbeck Foundation Managing Director Steen Hemmingsen. There is also a convergence of membership between the Foundation's Board of Trustees and LFI a/s' Supervisory Board, in that Professor, Chief Physician, M.D. Mikael Rørth is vice-chairman in the Foundation and Director Thorleif Krarup is vice-chairman in LFI a/s. Director Mogens Bundgaard-Nielsen is chairman of both companies.
LFI a/s achieved in 2009 a financial result of DKK 2,484 million. The equity including holdings in H. Lundbeck A/S and ALK-Abelló A/S, assessed at book value, amounted to DKK 16,359 million. At market value, the equity totalled DKK 24,177 million.
